The project of the building of a tram that joins the city center with the fishery area is taking shape. The Generalitat has included this project in the Plan Confianza. The work is valued at 16 million euros and it will be finished in the 2011.

In a first phase, the tram will join the train station of Gandía with the Centro Social Marcelino Pérez and the harbour. According to the information, the line could get to the San Luis Hotel in the first line coast of Gandía beach. It depends on the licence holder, which should accept the investment.

Once the tram is working, the buses line that makes the connection between the city centre and Grao and beach will give up making this route. Besides, the bus will make a provisional circular service until all the work is finished and the tram gets to the end of the beach. Además, también se contempla la posibilidad de que el tranvía esté conectado con la Universidad y con la futura Ciudad Deportiva.
